A Fish Friendly Straw!

I was dumbfounded when I found out that plastic straws take a whopping 500 years to fully decompose, which is insane, considering how long we actually use 1 straw. Sadly, a lot of those straws end up in our oceans and become a huge risk to our fishy friends and other marine life. Reusable straws have been appearing more and more in an attempt to be more eco-friendly.

Designers Chu Hiu Ching and Cheung Wa have realized that reusable straws is the best solution, yet people are often grossed out at the lack of cleanliness. As a result, they designed the Icicle Straw!

How this straw works is very simple, affective, and clean. All the user has to do is slide the two sides of the straw apart and clean the inside, no need for cleaning tools! And then the Icicle Straw snaps back together when you are ready to use it again. Sign me up!

The Icicle is a winner of the Asia Design Prize for the year 2018.
