I won’t lie, after seeing so many progressions when it comes to technology and electronics, I am a tad surprised that tripods have been around for millenia and something like the Lumapod has only existed for the past couple weeks. If you go onto Amazon’s website or into Walmart’s electronic section you’ll pretty much see the same tripods you’ve been seeing for decades upon decades. What is different about this one is it’s very a small and powerful device the Lumapod is and when it’s closed it scales down the tripod to 1/3 of the space when it’s closed, but still has its functionality and height when opened.
It’s seriously the size of a collapsed selfie stick and comes with 3 tiny legs and a long pole that is all kept in place using three Kevlar wires. This form allows Lumapod to break down into an extremely small form factor and makes setting it up even easier and faster.
When it comes to photography, time is always critical, whether a hobby or profession. To set up the gear you need to have enough time so you don’t miss the shot. This tripod’s design aims to shorten the set up and break down time, all you have to do is twist, pull, set. Lumapod has an aluminum frame that is lightweight yet sturdy and the Kevlar wires we spoke of hold the tripod up. There’s a ball and socket joint that allows the user to position the camera at whichever angle they prefer and you can even use this tripod as a selfie stick if you so wish. An all around nifty and functional tripod, you can use this for your iPhone or Android, action camera, or your professional shooter whether a Canon or Nikon. We could certainly see something so hi-tech and compact being sold in Best Buy or Target’s!
