I remember seeing an article titled “The MP3 is dead” and got a sinking feeling in my stomach thinking to myself “What the heck?”. This is because during my 27 years on this earth so far I have witnessed Vinyl like Victrola, the Cassette Tape, CD’s, the MP3 (or digital download) and finally online streaming services was introduced replacing its predecessor. What happened to the best olden days that you would go find your favorite bands new CD for sale at Target or your local music store? I miss those days! Now, just like others, I am left with a bunch of different devices with collections of songs that are now scattered everywhere in an unorganized fashion. If I want to listen to my grandmother’s favorite album I must go to Vinyl, but if I want to listen to something a little more contemporary, I either need an internet connection to access it online or have the digital download.
The only two forms of listening to music that have really stuck with us all this time are the Vinyl and the digital file. The digital file, yes, is extremely convenient, but it doesn’t even closely compare to the audio quality you get from a Vinyl. For some reason, analog audio is ‘warmer’ and has a natural sounding quality to it that is always welcomed by our ears.
The+Record Player is a hybrid in a sense, as it recognized the two most popular formats of listening to music and combined them into one product. An amazing record player that is built with high end materials (a Pro-jet turntable with a carbon fiber tonearm and a Ortofon 2M Red MM Phono Cartridge) and has the capability of 33/34 rpm vinyl playback too! As if that wasn’t enough, this record player has wireless connectivity, allowing the user to connect it with an Amazon Echo or Google Chromecast, which allows you to stream music from online to your vinyl player!
The+Record Player is equipped with a high-fidelity speaker system. Constructed with two 1″ soft dome tweeters and two compact long-throw aluminum-cone woofers, producing some rich bass and smooth high-ends. There is an amplifier channel dedicated to each speaker driver and has sonic contouring ensuring the audio sounds amazing regardless of its source. On top of that, the record player has a state-of-the-art turntable isolation that tries to prevent audio feedback and vibrations coming from the speakers that affects the turntable. This product also features a Wide Mode which makes you feel like you’re listening to music on two separate speakers as opposed to the one. Not to mention, The+Record Player’s bluetooth and Aux input abilities you can choose to connect your own speakers if you so choose and now you have a vintage player with speakers. As if it needed more features, it also has a 2-way USB port!
The+Record Player has a very interesting exterior design with a mixture of past meets present aesthetic with the wooden veneers having a clean design and a very advanced control panel. I think they did a really great job in mixing vintage and modern, while having a Scandinavian-esque package as a while it functions and looks the part for sure. Not to mention, you don’t have to really worry about owning multiple devices anymore to listen to music online or listen to vinyl, now you have it all in one!
